Proxies in the Unit Database

Thank you to anyone who has used the "submit a proxy" forms in the unit DB in the last couple of days. It's a great help and makes it much easier for me to track and add new models as they become available. I'm super busy in RL for the next couple of weeks, so there might be a slight delay in adding new models to the DB. Please bear with me. And please keep the suggestions coming! -MiniWars admin

Help the MiniWars Admin

Shameless call for help, here. It's nothing to do with wargames, but since I'm the MiniWars admin, I'm allowed this one breach of conduct! All I ask from you is that you use the share buttons on my company site - http://cloudlevel.me. It's the one that pays the bills (and the hosting for MiniWars) and I need to boost SEO. Facebook, Twitter, Google+, hit the button(s) that suits you best!

The Indestructible Terrain Project (6mm scale)

This is an ongoing project that has recently advanced due to the recent re-emergence of some excellent 6mm roads and bridges. Terrain... Most gamers' idea of perfect terrain is something as realistic as possible. Though I agree realistic terrain can look awesome, I have three problems with it. First, it can be unclear as to what terrain you're actually in, second, it's bulky and difficult to transport, and third, it takes bloody ages to create. And for someone (like me) who finds it difficult to find the time to work on models, spending hours creating terrain is not...

Adeptus Titanicus: The Horus Heresy (2017)

Back in May 2015, Millest posted a picture of a tiny Warlord Titan at Warhammer World. The rep said it was just a test print, offering no further information about it, but we know how GW works, right? They love to feed the rumour mill and get people debating what they may or may not do. However, there wasn't a great deal of buzz in the Epic community due to distrust in GW and their handling of Specialist Games, and the high level of autonomy the community enjoys. This maybe about to change, as since confirming Specialist Games are returning...

Board Wargames: Should They Be Added To MiniWars?

The issue of adding board wargames to MiniWars has come up a few times. In the past I've resisted as there are so many, and MiniWars was always intended to be focussed on tabletop wargames. GW Epic to be precise, but once the site was built it seemed a pity to limit it to one game! It has just been suggested that one category for board wargames would suffice. If that were the case, or we could get away with adding a select few categories, the idea of adding them becomes more realistic. My questions are: Is it worth...

Creating a 6mm scale diorama from an army formation - Redemptionists

Having read Calico Jack's excellent blog about Epic Ultramarines, I was inspired to share a few thoughts on 6mm scale modelling and painting myself. I have completed two armies in a modelling career that spans around 5 years now. Not an amazing output by any stretch of the imagination, but I do like to indulge in a little modelling before painting... After the first army I decided there was no reason why 6mm basing couldn't be as interesting as the minis themselves, and came up with the idea of making dioramas out of formations. At the time there were...

Processing & Uploading 360° Photos to MiniWars

In the first article I described how to take 360° photos of your miniatures. Now in this video tutorial we'll look out how you get those photos into Mini360 with the help of Photoshop. If you don't have Photoshop, you could use a free alternative like GIMP. When I get the chance I'll create a similar tutorial for GIMP but the principles will be the same, so this one should still be of use to you. What We're Aiming For Hopefully you'll end up with a good quality 360° by the end of the tutorial....

Taking 360° Photos of Miniatures

In this first of two articles, I'll quickly show you how to create 360º photos for use with our Mini360 feature. These photos can really show off your miniatures like never before, and give followers of your work the next best thing to viewing it in person! The process can be very simple, but there are a number of tricks that will speed things up and produce first class results. The Equipment I use a standard Canon point and click camera. It's not expensive, but it's plenty good enough. A tripod is essential. I bought mine for...
