Micro Diorama: The Abyss

Micro Diorama #11 is the first to feature electronic wizardry in the form of an infinity mirror lift shaft. Since I knew very little about electronics, this was a learning experience, sometimes fun, sometimes frustrating.

The brass touch capacitive sensor on the front of the base above the nameplate turns the mirror on and off. It’s powered by a 400mAh battery which provides at least 8 hours of continuous use and the built-in charging circuit charges the battery to capacity in under 2 hours. The charging circuit could go quite a bit faster but I reduced the charge rate to keep heat down and allow the safe use of very thin wires in the circuit – needed to save space.
