Micro Dioramas: Classic GW
Accompanying Notes
Army painting takes a long time, doesn’t it? I fancied doing a few smaller projects that would provide variety and allow me to paint some of my favourite models I’ve accumulated over the years, without getting bogged down with scores of troops. I like the idea of creating within constraints as a challenge and these cheap glass domes from Temu provide just that. What can we fit in a 5x8cm volume that looks good and perhaps tells a story?
It turns out the biggest challenge is photographing them without a proper studio and I’m still not happy with the current results. More experimentation needed, I will redo them at some point. These domes are numbered in order of completion and they will belong to multiple different collections including the Phoenix Lords.
#1 – Epic in ’88
All models are from the first release of Adeptus Titanicus in 1988. Well, the limited release infantry might have been released slightly later, but we can overlook that! Obviously the marines had to be Imperial Fists.
#9 – Fire Gale
All models are from 1989. The Eldar Knights including Fire Gale were debuted in White Dwarf #126 and still look awesome to this day IMO. This one is from the Nightfury Clan. The infantry belong to the Alai Mercenary Corps, because who doesn’t like a pink and green combo?
